Miglė Dunčikaitė (Lithuania) is a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, installation, and photography. Her practice explores the relationship between organic forms and industrial materials, drawing inspiration from marine ecosystems, natural processes, and the interconnectedness between human and non-human life.

Working primarily with steel, she transforms a rigid and durable material into fluid sculptural forms that evoke movement, vulnerability, and transformation. Her works often emerge from observations of marine organisms and underwater environments, translating their structures and rhythms into abstract spatial compositions.

For NU' VEM Residency 2026, Dunčikaitė presents two steel sculptures inspired by ocean life: Silent Wings, a large-scale work referencing the expansive movement of manta rays, and Drifting Signals, a sculpture based on the form of a jellyfish. Although both works are constructed entirely from steel, they emphasize lightness and motion. The lower section of Drifting Signals is designed to rotate with the wind, allowing the sculpture to respond directly to its environment.

Created on Pico Island, the works establish a dialogue between the Atlantic Ocean, volcanic landscape, and atmospheric conditions of the Azores. Through simplified forms and spatial openness, the sculptures reflect on marine ecosystems, environmental fragility, and the continuous movement that connects oceanic life with the surrounding world.

Dunčikaitė's practice combines technical metalworking with an interest in natural structures, creating works that balance strength and delicacy, permanence and change.
