Daniel Vlček (*1978, CZ) is a cross-media artist whose practice operates at the intersection of
painting, sound, installation, and performance. His work explores interference as a principle of
interaction between images, materials, technologies, and environments. Investigating how
acoustic, biological, and technological signals intersect, amplify, and disrupt one another, he
translates these dynamics into visual and sonic forms.
His artistic practice oscillates between abstraction, systems thinking, and experimentation.
Working with biofeedback, media translation, field recordings, and the physical traces of time
and process, he creates large-scale series of paintings and sound installations that combine
painting with industrial structures, textiles, vinyl records, and fragments of tires. The
characteristic moiré patterns produced by mechanically engraving layers of paint evoke digital
noise, analog interference, and hidden data systems.
In Vlček’s work, sound does not accompany the image but functions as its parallel interpretation
and extension. His compositions combine analog synthesizers, tape loops, and digital
technologies, while repetition and the physical ritual of making remain central to his practice,
oscillating between control and intuition. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, the
Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan. His work has
been exhibited in the Czech Republic and internationally, including in Venice, Brussels, Vienna,
Berlin, and New York.

Sea Saw (It’s Important to Be Kind)
Acoustic see-saw reflecting on the complex language of sperm whales. By integrating fragments
of their communication into the sculpture’s surface, the work explores the relationship between
human and non-human forms of knowledge while excavating the geopolitical implications of
deep-sea mining and questioning where we, as humans, stand within the fragile ecosystems of
the ocean.
